Feedback and Evaluations

Our firm regards associate growth and development as key to its success. As a key component of associate professional development, we are committed to providing our associates with actionable, high-quality feedback and career guidance.

Feedback

Consistent feedback is among the factors that associates identify as most important to their professional career satisfaction. Our partners take an active role in associate learning and development by investing considerable time and effort in the delivery of real-time feedback and hands-on teaching throughout the year. We also encourage associates to be proactive in asking questions and seeking advice on new and challenging matters.

Annual Associate Evaluation Process

The annual associate evaluation process is a robust, multi-stage process designed to gather feedback from a variety of sources to gain a wholistic view of each associate's performance. The Associate Attributes Model is incorporated into all aspects of this process to define expectations at each level and provide associates and their supervising lawyers with a standard framework from which core attributes, professional skills, and interpersonal skills can be assessed.

Our goals for the annual associate evaluation process are to:

  • Provide associates with an opportunity to reflect on their performance over the past year and apprise their supervising lawyers of their goals and accomplishments
  • Gather an accurate and candid assessment of associate performance, productivity, strengths, and areas for development through detailed interviews with supervising lawyers
  • Engage in a developmental dialogue with associates about their performance, as well as career planning and goal-setting for the future
