Newco Ltd. v. Government of Belize - Enforcement of Arbitral Award
Newco Limited in obtaining confirmation of an arbitral award in the United States, under the New York Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards, against Belize relating to the termination of Newco's concession agreement to expand and operate Belize’s international airport. The order was affirmed on appeal to the D.C. Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court denied certiorari in January 2017. Newco and Belize entered into a settlement agreement in 2018.
