DALLAS, August 31, 2020 – Baker Botts L.L.P., a leading international law firm, announced today that the firm’s Dallas office has been named a winner in D CEO magazine’s third annual Nonprofit and Corporate Citizenship Awards in the category of “In-Kind Services Supporter.” The awards celebrate the efforts of local nonprofit organizations and professionals, and the companies and business leaders who support them.

Representing friends and residents of a West Dallas neighborhood, Baker Botts and local non-profit Advocates for Community Transformation (ACT) obtained a judgment ordering demolition of a notorious drug and prostitution house. Many residents of West Dallas were present throughout the trial and expressed their deep gratitude for the efforts of Baker Botts and ACT in helping them bring justice and peace to their community.

Reid Porter, the CEO of the nonprofit Act for Justice that uses the justice system to empower inner city residents to fight crime on their street, nominated the firm’s Dallas office for the award. Baker Botts lawyers Jessica Pulliam, Stephen Fitzgerald, Monica Smith, Cale Curtin, Jamie Drillette, Jace Yarbrough and Zach Stone worked on the pro bono case, as well did paralegals Jessica Aquino and David Gerkin.

D CEO features Baker Botts’ pro bono efforts in its August/September issue. The publication highlights the thousands of volunteer hours firm attorneys have provided since beginning their work with ACT in 2009, including the accrual of approximately 1,300 hours in 2019.
