DALLAS, August 13, 2020 – Baker Botts L.L.P., a leading international law firm, announced today that the firm’s Dallas office is one of four finalists for D CEO magazine’s third annual Nonprofit and Corporate Citizenship Awards, presented in partnership with the Communities Foundation of Texas, in the category of “In-Kind Services Supporter.” Out of more than 510 nominations and 80 finalists in the program overall, the awards aim to celebrate the efforts of local nonprofit organizations and professionals, and the companies and business leaders who support them.

Representing friends and residents of a West Dallas neighborhood, Baker Botts and local non-profit Advocates for Community Transformation (ACT) obtained a judgment ordering demolition of a notorious drug and prostitution house. Many residents of West Dallas were present throughout the trial and expressed their deep gratitude for the efforts of Baker Botts and ACT in helping them bring justice and peace to their community.

Reid Porter, the CEO of the nonprofit Act for Justice that uses the justice system to empower inner city residents to fight crime on their street, nominated the Dallas office.
