HOUSTON, August 25, 2021 – Baker Botts L.L.P., a leading international law firm, is pleased to announce that partner Keri Brown has been named to the Houston Business Journal’s list of “Women Who Mean Business.” The awards recognize women in leadership roles who have demonstrated excellence in their careers and community.

Keri was one of only four individuals recognized in the “Outstanding Business Leaders in Law” category. The criteria for selection included career achievement, contribution to company and city success, community involvement and leadership.

As firmwide Partner-in-Charge of Corporate Social Responsibility, Keri advances Baker Botts’ commitment to its communities by allocating the firm’s people and financial resources to support communities, overseeing corporate citizenship, managing the firm’s pro bono efforts, and aligning the firm’s Corporate Social Responsibility efforts with those of its clients. Her CSR work is in addition to her full-time legal practice, in which she serves as a trusted advisor to some of the nation’s most prominent individuals on complex federal estate, gift and income tax litigation and controversy matters. Among other accomplishments, Keri is Chambers-ranked in Private Wealth Law – Texas, an elected Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, and is Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

In 2020, Keri led a firmwide team of lawyers in creating a COVID-19 Community Resource Guide focused on the federal, state and business response to the pandemic. The team’s work was featured in The American Lawyer, The Texas Lawbook and The Houston Lawyer, and Keri was recognized by the Houston Chronicle as one of its “Heroes of the Front Line” in the battle against COVID-19. In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey in 2017, her pro bono efforts were featured in The Wall Street Journal, ABA Journal, Texas Bar Journal, Texas Lawyer, Houston Business Journal and The Houston Lawyer. In addition, the State Bar of Texas honored Keri with its 2018 Pro Bono Coordinator Award and she was recognized in 2020 with a resolution by the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors for exceptional service to the legal profession and the community. Keri also serves on the State Bar of Texas Legal Services to the Poor in Civil Matters Committee, the State Bar’s Pro Bono Workgroup, and is serving as the board chair of Houston Volunteer Lawyers for the 2021-22 bar year.
