Overview

Wes Edwards is an associate in the firm's Houston office and the Intellectual Property Practice. He focuses on a wide range of IP matters, including litigation, licensing, and portfolio management. With experience across industries such as oil and gas, media and telecommunications, and food and beverage, Wes helps clients protect their innovations and navigate the complexities of intellectual property law.

Before joining the firm, Wes gained invaluable experience as a corporate counsel extern in the intellectual property department of one of the world's largest beverage companies, where he developed a keen understanding of corporate IP strategy. Prior to his legal career, he worked as an engineer for both an international energy services corporation and a global specialty construction and infrastructure company, providing him with a solid technical foundation and a unique perspective on IP issues in the energy and infrastructure sectors.

Throughout his career, Wes has been committed to helping clients maximize the value of their intellectual property assets, ensuring that their IP portfolios align with their business goals. He combines his technical background with legal experience to offer practical solutions for complex IP challenges.

Experience

  • Represented an international oilfield services provider in multiple patent infringement actions in the Western District of Texas involving multiple patents relating to hydraulic fracturing equipment and technologies.
  • Defended an oilfield equipment manufacturer in patent infringement action in the Southern District of Texas involving multiple patents related to valve technologies. This case resulted in a favorable outcome before trial.
