Overview

Verónica Restrepo focuses her practice on international dispute settlement, particularly investment treaty arbitration and international commercial arbitration. She has represented governments in proceedings before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) and its Additional Facility, as well as in arbitrations under the Arbitration Rules of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL).

Prior to joining Baker Botts in 2023, Verónica worked for more than 3 years in an international arbitration practice of another global law firm in Washington D.C.

She also worked in Colombia for seven years as an associate in the litigation practice of local law firms, where she handled litigation cases before local courts and arbitration proceedings - both domestic and international - advising local and international clients from different sectors of the economy, including the construction and financial sectors. These proceedings included varied issues related, among others, to infrastructure projects, telecommunications, compliance, directors and officers insurance, class actions, and proceedings before administrative agencies.

In all of these, Verónica participated in attending hearings, preparing briefs for judges or arbitrators and formulating appeals. She also prepared memoranda, opinions, and reports on local law for international clients and foreign law firms.

Verónica also worked as an intern at the Colombian Securities Market Self-Regulator and in the mergers and acquisitions practice of a local law firm.
