Deal Description: Baker Botts advised BP Exploration & Production Inc. (“BP”) in the sale of a 746-mile offshore fiber optic network cable system that spans across the Gulf of Mexico from Quintana/Freeport, Texas to Pascagoula, Mississippi, to Tampnet Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of a Norway-based privately held company that provides subsea fiber-based data communication and wireless 4G LTE to the offshore industry. At the time BP completed the construction of this system in 2008, it was the longest oil and gas dedicated submarine fiber optic network in the world. The transaction closed on March 30, 2021.
