Baker Botts Welcomes Energy M&A Partner and Leader of Critical Minerals and Metals Subsector

HOUSTON, August 13, 2024 – Baker Botts L.L.P., a leading international energy, technology, and life sciences law firm, announced today that Rebecca Seidl has joined the firm’s Corporate Department as a partner in the Houston office and leader of the firm’s Critical Minerals and Metals Subsector.

Seidl is a highly regarded M&A and projects lawyer in the energy and mining industries. Her clients span a broad range of industries, including energy, mining, chemical, industrials and infrastructure investment vehicles. Her global transactional practice focuses on stock acquisitions and divestitures, mergers, strategic joint ventures, as well as advising clients on energy and mining project development investments.

Seidl previously served as senior in-house counsel at BHP, the world’s largest mining, metals and petroleum company, overseeing and advising various business units including Exploration, Projects, Commercial and Business Development. During her tenure at BHP, Seidl was based in Santiago, Chile, supporting the company’s major mining development projects and joint ventures in Chile, Peru and the U.S., including advising on critical infrastructure projects for mining and desalination valued at US$2.5 billion.

Seidl’s cross-border energy practice and track record on major transactions in Latin America has earned her recognition by Latinvex annually as one of “Latin America’s Top 100 Female Lawyers” (2019-2023).

Seidl earned her J.D. from University of Oklahoma College of Law and B.S. from Grand Valley State University. She joins the firm from Mayer Brown, where she was a partner in the Corporate practice group and Global Energy industry group.
