Overview

Senior Counsel Hassan Mostafa Kamel Elsayed has broad corporate and commercial law experience in the Middle East, including international arbitration, litigation, international commercial and corporate matters, joint ventures and government procurement and claims. Mr. Elsayed is resident in the Dubai office and has experience that includes handling a large number of arbitrations on behalf of Egyptian industries before the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris and local arbitration and litigation. Prior to joining the firm, he worked in assisting in the preparation of the government claims of the State of Kuwait to the United Nations Compensation Commission in Geneva arising from the Gulf War.

His experience also includes serving as lawyer and legal consultant to F & Kohain from 1985 to 1987. He was also a member of the legal department of the Sugar and Integrated Industries of Egypt from 1987 to 1994.

Elsayed is also knowledgeable in Islamic law and legal practice. He is fluent in Arabic and English and has a working knowledge of French.

  • Represented U.S. contractors in connection with marketing, negotiation, local law implementation and offset obligations in connection with direct and US Foreign Military Sales programs for the sale of aircraft and other defense systems and services programs in UAE.
  • Represented U.S. contractors in connection with marketing, negotiation, local law implementation and offset obligations in connection with direct and U.S. Foreign Military Sales programs for the sale of aircraft and other defense systems and services programs in Kuwait.
  • Represented U.S. contractors in connection with marketing, negotiation and local law in connection with direct and US Foreign Military Sales programs for the sale of aircraft and other defense systems and services programs in Egypt.

  • Represented leading technology and IT service providers with the negotiation of technology services agreements, including outsourcing arrangements.
  • Represented U.S. institutions of higher learning to establish collaborations with government institutions/universities in UAE to deliver specialized engineering and medical program training to the Gulf.
  • Represented banks and other lenders in connection with aircraft financings in the UAE.
  • Represented one of the biggest Egyptian industrial companies in international arbitration before the International Chamber of Commerce.
  • Represented one of the biggest Egyptian industrial companies in many public sector arbitration, local arbitration and Egyptian Courts.
  • Represented individuals and companies in ad hoc arbitration and litigation before Egyptian Civil and Commercial Courts.
  • Represented world-wide investment banking firm in due diligence and documentation structure and opinions for UAE account parties.
  • Represented medical device manufactures and pharmaceutical manufacturers in connection with local regulatory matters including clinical trial conduct and marketing practices.
  • Represented many fast moving consumer goods and industrial companies in a wide range of corporate and commercial matters in the Middle East and North Africa.
  • Advised a U.S. company in connection with the establishment and operation of joint ventures to manufacture float glass in state-of-the-art plants based in the Middle East.
  • Represented several international franchisors in structuring franchisee relationships and activities in the UAE and throughout the Middle East.
  • Represented U.S. provider of off-shore oil rigs in establishment of business presence and transactions in the Middle East.
