Thoughtfully protecting technology begins and ends with people. Companies need lawyers that speak the language of engineers, respect the pressures placed on in-house teams, and know which arguments convince layman juries and experienced jurists alike. As an experienced patent prosecutor and litigator with the ability to connect with people across every spectrum, Megan White is best positioned to safeguard her clients’ technology and propel their business forward.
While working closely with software, energy, telecommunications, healthcare companies and more, Megan carefully listens to each client’s needs and goals before crafting tailored strategies. Drawing on her engineering, patent prosecution, and litigation experience, she knows how to protect her client’s technology at every stage.
Megan's litigation experience includes complex, multi-patent infringement lawsuits involving competitors and non-practicing entities. Representing both plaintiffs and defendants, Megan anticipates and neutralizes opposing strategies before they materialize. This dual-perspective approach enables her to craft airtight patent litigation strategies that stay several moves ahead. She has litigated in top patent venues including the Eastern, Western, Northern, and Southern Districts of Texas, the District of Delaware, and the Northern and Central Districts of California. Megan has also represented patent owners and petitioners before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board; skillfully balancing IPRs and pending litigation.
Megan's experience on the front lines of patent litigation positions her to develop high-value patent portfolios that can withstand challenges. She leverages courtroom insights to anticipate and prevent disputes during patent prosecution, identifying potential vulnerabilities before they can be exploited. Drawing on her prosecution and IPR experience, she crafts robust patent families that serve both offensive and defensive strategies. This comprehensive approach allows her to serve as a true strategic partner to her clients --whether prosecuting breakthrough technologies, navigating post-grant proceedings, or enforcing valuable patent rights.
Prior to Baker Botts, Megan served as a judicial law clerk to Judge Reed C. O’Connor of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas. She has also served as a teaching assistant in the patent prosecution course at SMU's Dedman School of Law. Megan is also the Editor of Baker Botts’ monthly Intellectual Property Report.
Outside of practice, Megan demonstrates her commitment to Dallas through active leadership in the Junior League. As Vice President of Signature Projects (2022-2023) and Chair of the Grants for Innovative Teaching Committee (2020-2021), she applied the same strategic thinking that benefits her clients to maximize community impact. Her dedication to discipline and personal growth extends beyond the office --you'll find her motivating others as a fitness instructor at Grit Fitness, enjoying the Dallas’ musical and theater scene, hosting competitive game nights, or cheering on her beloved Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
