On 28 January 2021, Baker Botts in partnership with the British Institute of International and Comparative Law (BIICL) will present the first comprehensive empirical study on annulment investment treaty arbitration. The study examines hundreds of annulment decisions rendered by ICSID annulment committees and domestic courts.

This empirical study builds on a detailed examination of the entire universe of publicly available annulment decisions and offers a unique insight into how ICSID annulment committees and domestic courts treat annulment applications.
 
Baker Botts Partner, Dr. Johannes Koepp and Associate, Jack Biggs co-authored the study together with Professor Yarik Kryvoi (BIICL) and will be presenting. Professor Andrea Bjorklund from McGill University will comment on the study, and Judge Joan Donoghue from the International Court of Justice (ICJ) will chair the event.
