The American Law Institute Elects Baker Botts Partner Stephanie Cagniart to Membership
Baker Botts L.L.P. is proud to announce that Stephanie Cagniart, litigation partner in the Austin office, has been elected to membership in the American Law Institute (ALI).
Founded in 1923, the ALI produces scholarly work meant to update or otherwise improve the law. The organization includes judges, lawyers, and law professors from the U.S. and around the world who are “selected on the basis of professional achievement and demonstrated interest in improving the law,” according to the institute’s website. Members were selected from confidential nominations submitted by ALI members. Ms. Cagniart joins other Baker Botts lawyers previously elected to ALI membership, including Bill Kroger, Tom Phillips, Macey Stokes, Aaron Streett, Bill Stutts, and Gavin Villareal, and retired partners Tom Eubank, Martin Minsker, and Charles Szalkowski.
Ms. Cagniart represents clients in a broad range of complex litigation matters. She has argued before multiple courts of appeals including the Texas Supreme Court and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Sixth Circuits, and has briefed cases in numerous federal and state appellate courts and to the United States Supreme Court. Ms. Cagniart has also served as a Lecturer at the University of Virginia School of Law, teaching persuasion in verbal communication. Prior to joining Baker Botts, Ms. Cagniart was a law clerk to the Honorable Patrick E. Higginbotham for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
