LONDON, 20 September 2023 – Baker Botts L.L.P., a leading international law firm, has been named International Arbitration Team of the Year at the Legal Business Awards, an annual event honouring the profession’s leading practitioners. This year’s event took place on 19 September 2023.

The team received the accolade for its work defending the Republic of Iraq in a $1 billion investment treaty arbitration brought by German transport company AHG Industry GmbH & Co. KG at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). Baker Botts obtained a summary dismissal of all of the investor’s claims and thereby secured an early release for Iraq from the case, saving it from having to argue a full case on jurisdiction and the merits.
