Overview

Giles is a special counsel based in Singapore and advises on the development and financing of energy and infrastructure projects. He has been based in Asia for over 15 years, including secondments to Korea Eximbank in Seoul and Asian Development Bank in Manila. He advises on transactions in the oil and gas, LNG, power/renewables, petrochemicals and infrastructure/PPP sectors. He represents clients including sponsors, financiers, contractors, investors, government bodies and multilaterals.

Giles has worked on projects in many jurisdictions in South and South East Asia, including Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei, the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka and Nepal. He has also worked on transactions in Europe, Africa, the Middle-East, Central Asia and Australia.

LNG, Oil & Gas and Process Infrastructure Development

  • LNG Japan on its proposed acquisition of an interest in the Scarborough gas project offshore Western Australia.
  • A bidder in relation to the development of tanks 5 and 6 for the Singapore LNG project.*
  • Altera Infrastructure in relation to FPSO arrangements for the Dorado oil and gas field offshore Western Australia.*
  • LNG Japan on the Tangguh LNG project in Indonesia.*
  • The Sponsors in relation to the development of an LNG regasification project in Pakistan.*
  • First Gen Corporation in relation to the development of the Batangas LNG regasification project in the Philippines.*
  • Hengyi Industries on all aspects of the development of its $13BN petrochemicals project in Brunei.*

  • Vena Energy in relation to the development of 5 wind farm power projects in the Philippines.*
  • Asian Development Bank on the financing of an 80 MW solar power project in India.*
  • CDC Group Plc, Habib Bank Limited and Faysal Bank Limited on the financing of the 50 MW Indus Wind project, the 50 MW Liberty 1 Wind project and the 50 MW Liberty 2 Wind project in Pakistan.*
  • The Lenders on the financing of the 1320 MW Chittagong IPP project in Bangladesh.*
