Zach Stone represents clients in high-stakes cases. He has considerable experience in patent, trademark, and shareholder derivative matters as well as a wide range of other zealously fought commercial disputes.

Zach serves clients in various industries, with a focus on telecommunications, energy, and software businesses. These clients benefit from Zach’s experience in federal and state forums, including particularly in Texas. This experience includes leading trial and appellate matters, as well as significant motion practice and efficient discovery management skills.

Zach is passionately involved in the firm’s pro bono efforts, and he is especially proud of his trial and appellate family law work. Zach has helped domestic violence survivors navigate complex divorce and custody disputes. This work has provided Zach the opportunity to first-chair trial, intermediate appellate, and Texas Supreme Court cases. Zach has played an important role in deepening the firm’s relationships with pro bono partners and clients including the Network for Victim Recovery (formerly DV LEAP), the Genesis Women’s Shelter, and the Texas Advocacy Project. Zach was recognized in 2021 by DV LEAP in connection with its “Pro Bono Firm of the Year” award to Baker Botts. Zach’s pro bono work also includes presenting a clemency petition to the Governor of Tennessee and advocating against the use of unaffordable bail.

During law school, Zach interned for the Honorable Judge Barbara Lynn of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas and the Honorable Justice Debra Lehrmann of the Supreme Court of Texas. He also participated in his law school's Supreme Court clinic. Zach also worked at a small firm in Austin, Texas on numerous matters at the State Office of Administrative Hearings. Through these activities, Zach developed an understanding of federal trial practice, state appellate procedure, state administrative procedure, and United States Supreme Court procedure.
